Our Solution
As described in our problem description, we have an issue with waste contamination which leads to waste incineration, waste export and landfill. Surely, we can do better than that, simply by starting to sort better at the source: at home! To achieve cleaner waste streams we must increase awareness, encourage good sorting behavior at the source, help people navigate the often confusing local recycling rules and above all, reduce and reuse!
To address this, we are currently working on a mobile app that tells you how to sort your waste according to the rules of your neighborhood, with a simple snap of a picture. Recycling correctly has never been so easy! And because all the local sorting rules and collection sites will be integrated within the app, you don’t need to worry about memorizing them. To top it off, we will allow B2B sponsors to reward users with points or cashback for correctly disposing of their waste.
Did you know that Deposit Return Schemes are one of the only known systems that we currently have that work against waste, and that Europe reaches a 90% separation collection rate because of this system? The goal of our solution is to incentivize people to separate more and better at home, by making it easier and more attractive through state-of-the-art technology. Still confused?
